Weekend Split

After a very bad performance against Holy Names on Friday, we returned to Oakland to take on Mills College on Saturday. As I mentioned in my last post, Mills is a very loud place to play. So loud in fact that I wear ear plugs during the match. I think Katelin (assistant coach) may be wearing them next time as she walked out of the facility with a headache and ringing ears.

Mills again proved to be a frustrating opponent. While they are not fundamentally strong, they played every point as if it is was their last and somehow kept balls in play and back on us. Early in this match we did not handle this well. But we responded with some swagger and won the match 3-2(30-28, 19-25, 22-25, 25-14, 15-10).

The victory moves us to 5-6 in conference and 6-13 overall. Three of our four remaining matches are at home, so we have a great opportunity to finish the season strong in front of our fans.

Several of our starting freshmen have been stellar and we are excited about those of you who will join them on roster next fall!

I hope that your weekend has been great. Blessings on the remainder of your regular seasons and we look forward to watching some of you in playoffs in November. Keep us updated on your team's progress.

Time for a coffee refill.
