Yesterday I participated in our church's continuing celebration of Advent as I was given the pulpit to reflect on the topic of peace. Prepping for my 2-minute blab to a captive audience, for a week I jotted down anything that popped into my head regarding "peace." Peace to me is much more than the "absence of war." Peace in my life revolves around God, my family and volleyball. Here are some excerpts of my 2-minute reflection from this past Sunday.
Peace knows that life's worries end where faith begins; it is God's presence and possibilities in each of our lives. It is the Holy Spirit in the wind, answer to prayer, and forgiveness of sins.
Peace is the creative mind of a 5 year-old daughter, one who is inquisitive, overly stubborn, loves superheroes and anything pink. Peace is for parents who raised me right. Family is peace.
A fresh cup of rocket-fuel coffee, now that is peace. Peace is coaching volleyball and student-athletes who "get it." It is serving before receiving, confident celebration, and recruits that commit early. Volleyball is peace.
Thanks for reading. Peace to you and your family during the Christmas season.
